We are so grateful for Dr. Mel and his team at DCA. Our cat Arthur has struggled with severe atopic dermatitis due to allergies, and after multiple ER visits, procedures, and primary care vet appointments (all involving repeated steroid injections and antibiotics) we were worried about the impact on his long-term health. We decided to see a dermatologist, and we are so thankful we did. From the moment we met Dr. Mel, he was incredibly kind, calm, and gentle with Arthur in a way that immediately put both us and our cat at ease. He explained Arthur’s condition slowly and clearly, helping us understand something that is usually very complicated and overwhelming. He was honest and transparent about treatment options and success rates, and it was clear that he genuinely just wanted what was best for Arthur now and in the long term rather than the quick fix. The clinic itself is clean, welcoming, and clearly run by people who care deeply about animals and the humans who love them. Every staff member we interacted with was compassionate, attentive, and invested in helping Arthur feel comfortable. Thanks to Dr. Mel and his team, our sweet boy is finally experiencing relief. Took my kitty in for treatment who's been scratching at his ear for months. Seemed knowledgeable, recommended a topical ear drop the previous vet already prescribed, and an allergy diet. The drops made his condition much WORSE to the point he was in uncomfortable constantly, and the diet caused him to vomit and pawpads to swell. Don't come here if you're looking for answers, because they have yet to return any of my calls. But hey, as long as you get my $500 visit money, right?

My visit was great. The office is clean, quiet, and calm. Bonus for free designated parking in the South Lake Union area. The staff were extremely friendly and kind. Dr. Mel took time to explain a lot of information using a whiteboard (see attached photo). It made it clear and easy to understand. I especially appreciated being able to see the inside of my dog’s ears on screen. I found the vet’s approach to treatment to be conservative to start. My only expense in his office today was for the exam. We are going to try a diet modification for 6-8 weeks to see if that will help and then proceed from there if needed.

I really appreciated my experience at the DCA. The staff is professional and Dr Mel was fantastic. I brought my cat who has been tearing out his fur, itching for months. I called several dermatology clinics looking for the soonest appt. available landed with the DCA at an appt 3 weeks out from the date i made the appt. When i got there, the room was ready for us to wait in, as well as coffee and refreshments while we waited. Dr. Mel came into the room having already prepared with reading all the notes I provided in the appointment form. We got to discussing the potential causes, which he detailed on whiteboard so we could ask questions. We had a ton of questions and he was patient with explaining all of it. He explained why it wasn't some of the things we were suspecting, like bacteria and fungal infections. Many (not all) skin issues come from allergies, which there is no easy way to diagnose other than process of elimination He explained that very clearly and helped us come up with a plan to best suit my our family. He was also transparent with all costs depending on the treatments as well as helped set realistic expectations. Even the charts notes he sent a copy of so I could submit to my insurance was well detailed and understandable. We are just starting our treatment plan and will see the results for my cat, but regardless the experience we had was great. I am a very particular cat mom that researches the best I can provide for my pets, and I felt good about bringing my Tiki here. I would hands down recommend bringing your beloved pets here.

I took my dog here that has been struggling with allergies for years. Everyone was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. My dog is very skittish and all the staff were kind, gentle and accommodating. The vet and his nurse explained all the options and did a lot of education so I could understand what was going on. They helped me pick a treatment plan and I feel confident in the decisions we made collaboratively. I'd give them more than 5 stars if I could!
