The University of Minnesota Department of Neurology is dedicated to providing world-class patient care, advanced training, and cutting-edge research. Its highest priority is translating research into effective new therapies for neurological disorders. The medical staff utilize state-of-the-art techniques for the diagnosis, evaluation, management, and treatment of adult patients with demyelinating disorders and autoimmune disorders of the brain and spinal cord, alongside a wide range of subspecialty clinical services.
The department fosters the development of subspecialty services through collaborations with colleagues in Neurosurgery, Psychiatry, Radiology/Neuroradiology, ENT, Biomedical Engineering, and Neuroscience. Patient care is provided across four public teaching hospitals: the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview; Hennepin Healthcare; the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Hospital; and Regions Medical Center, handling over 1,000 neurology inpatients, 2,000 inpatient consultations, and 10,000 outpatient visits annually.
