After extensive research upon moving to the city 3 years ago, we chose Dr. Ana Valbuena. She is an excellent and highly competent USDA certified veterinarian who keeps up with the latest research and methodologies in her field. Dr. Valbuena’s bedside manner with our anxious dog (see below) has made routine vet visits a breeze. She is the ONLY vet my dog has ever liked and has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure our dog’s comfortability from the very first appointment. She throughly answers any questions we have. The support staff and vet technicians are also incredible! It is very easy to schedule an appointment as someone always picks up. Medication is available immediately. Staff are responsive to emails. Their text system sends timely reminders. The waiting room and exam rooms are pristine. I especially appreciate that Medical District Vet Clinic is affiliated with University of Illinois and not private equity investment. We have found their prices to be competitive yet fair. They do not suggest erroneous treatments and are transparent about costs. We go out of our way to take our dog here and it is 100% worth it for the quality of care received.

Dr. Hampton and the team at Medical District Veterinary Clinic are incredible! They fit our 6 year old dog with an infection in last minute and treated us with so much kindness and patience. They took the time to explain everything and made sure our pup felt comfortable the entire time. We’re so grateful for Dr. Hampton’s compassion and expertise, and for the entire team’s support!

I started bringing my cats here in the summer of 2023 and have only had good experiences. My cats are my life and I get so anxious when anything about their health pops up. The staff and vets here have been very kind, professional, and thorough with my three cats. Today I brought my kitten Yuan Yuan home from her spay, and she is doing really well. Thank you so much Dr. Barragan and nurse Crystal for taking care of her!

Angelica Calderon was my puppy's dvm. My Shihpoo was a healthy 2 month 2.5 lb and she received her first vaccines on Thursday. I believe they gave her too high of a dose for her little body or maybe she was too underweight to receive a vaccine in which they should have known that because she died two days later!!! I'm so heartbroken and I blame this vet clinic. Never once did they call to follow up to see how she was doing because maybe if they would have done so they would have been able to save my little puppy from dying!! And then she finally calls me back after I left a message and wants to point the blame on me rather than having true sympathy and compassion for her mistake. I do not know how Angelica Calderon can be a vet. I do not know how she can be ok with the fact she just cost a puppy her life. And then to try to point the blame on me the owner of this little puppy. She was healthy before she had this vaccine. Angelica even said it herself so yes be aware of having your pet treated by that vet. She clearly does not know what she’s doing because how can my puppy loose her life by a vaccine. It was too much of a dose for a little 2 lb puppy!!! I regret trusting this clinic and that vet. Please do research before you take your pet here. Your pet can loose his or her life and I don’t want that to happen to anyone. Please please be aware!! Since I cannot respond back to their response I decided to add it to my original post. It’s truly unprofessional that the owner of this clinic responded to my review and has never once emailed or called but I guess imagine is everything for this place. Because it is also unprofessional and illegal to post patients history. Especially when that has nothing to do with what happened or occurred in the ONLY puppy they treated. When the vet saw my puppy she was healthy. They said she was healthy and if they understood my concern then they should have waited for her to get vaccinated but apparently a 2.5 lb puppy could receive the same dose as a giant German shepherd. Because adults and babies receive the same dose. Right! This was a joke and I wish I had read the other reviews about this clinic and I wish I did my own research rather than to trust this place. I’m so upset and disappointed because one thing is for sure you cannot undo death. But rather than accepting the blame and just saying I’m so sorry this never happened no they just want to pass the blame onto the owner. This place is so unprofessional and it’s so sad because I never had a problem up until I met Angelica Calderon. Death is not a joke and all I wanted was true answers and change to how they conduct this clinic. Because no one should loose their pets life after receiving a vaccine.
