The staff at Companion are super kind and attentive. I came here as it was super close to my apartment, but after moving a bit away I still have chosen to return. They are very considerate during visits and let us know the vet had an urgent case and would be in as soon as she could. My cat gets nervous but loves the treats!!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but after what my cat and I went through, I feel obligated to share my experience so other pet owners know when it may be time to seek a second opinion. My cat suffered from a tail injury for 7 weeks. During that time, I saw three different veterinarians at Companion Animal Hospital, attended multiple appointments (sometimes twice in the same week), followed every recommendation, gave every prescribed medication, and spent approximately $2,000 trying to help him heal. What was most frustrating was the lack of progress and the lack of a clear plan. Week after week, I was told to continue medications and monitor the wound. Beyond medication, there was very little else recommended. No bandaging, no topical treatments, no alternative wound care plan, just medicine and exposure to air. I trusted the medical advice I was given and followed it exactly, yet after nearly two months the wound remained open and would not heal. The most disappointing part is that amputation was never seriously discussed until I brought it up myself after 7 weeks of unsuccessful treatment. At that point, I was told a partial amputation would likely solve the issue and that my cat should heal within about two weeks. Wanting to be certain before putting my cat through surgery, I sought a second opinion. The difference was night and day. Before I even mentioned amputation, the veterinarian immediately explained that because the wound had failed to heal for so long, a partial amputation carried a risk of not solving the problem and could lead to a second surgery later. He recommended a full amputation to give my cat the best chance of healing properly the first time. He also explained that recovery would be closer to a month, not two weeks. It was the first time someone clearly laid out the risks, options, and realistic expectations. The pricing was also concerning. Gabapentin was nearly double what I have paid elsewhere, and Onsior was significantly marked up as well. I was quoted over $1,650 for an amputation and given a list of supposedly affordable alternatives, only to find many quoted over $2,000. Thankfully, I found a neighborhood veterinarian who immediately identified the problem, provided honest guidance, and performed the surgery. I understand that veterinary medicine is not always straightforward and that healing cannot be guaranteed. However, after 7 weeks, 3 veterinarians, weekly appointments, thousands of dollars spent, and no meaningful improvement, I expected more proactive communication, more discussion of all available treatment options, and a clearer plan for my pet’s care. If your pet’s condition is not improving, do not be afraid to seek a second opinion. I wish I had done it much sooner.

I really can’t recommend Companion enough! We moved to the neighborhood as our dog was a bit older and had experienced several health issues throughout his life. They were the most outstanding vets to our family - sitting on the floor with us during our appointments discussing causes and options for our dogs health. Several years after being patients, we said goodbye to him with Companion and the care we received was phenomenal. 10/10.
