Came here after years with another vet. A mass removal for my pet rat was almost half the cost of my previous vet! The staff is very caring and kind and they've exceeded my expectations in quality of care, service and affordability! They don't force you to choose between "upgrades" to your pets care or sacrificing their comfort for financial stability. They are straightforward about required care and don't toy with your wallet or your heart. I can't express my appreciation enough. Thank you 😭❤️

I was recommended to Animal House by a friend, and it is close to my home. The Vet care was good, people were kind, but communication and follow up need to be improved. I appreciated that they were able to get me in same day for an urgent dental matter with my dog, after I found out that my usual vet is retiring and closing their practice. The vet that we saw (Dr. Ivankovig) was very thorough and helpful, and advised that my dog would need a dental and potentially extractions. I went ahead and booked an appointment for him the following week, and acknowledged that I would need to notify 48 hours for surgical procedures or 24 for vet appointments. I was advised by the vet tech (Maura) that I would receive an estimate for the future dental services later that day. I did receive an email, but it just had the receipt for the services they performed that day. I waited for the estimate to be sent over, it never was. I finally had to reach out about 48 hours before the dental service. Once it was sent, and I had time to review the estimate I wanted to ask for second opinions, and price comparison. I reached out 24 hours before to see if I could reschedule/cancel the appointment, to have a little more time to think. I was advised that I would forfeit my room deposit since it was less than 48 hours before. I understand polices- but it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth that I was not given the follow up promised, so I could consider my options. Then painted into a corner of loosing my deposit, because I didn't receive the information I needed to until after the 48 hour window I needed to follow their guidelines. I will be taking my dog in for the dental to not loose the deposit, but may have to reevaluate in the future-given the lack of communication. Will try to update after service.

We saw Dr Kim for our first visit and Dr Jenny for our follow up. Both were great - especially when delivering the news that we had one boy and one girl guinea pig (both were supposed to be boys) and both had ringworm (PSA do not buy your guinea pigs at Petsmart). Our second visit included a thorough exam of Lola to confirm she was not pregnant 🙏🏻. While the prices of care did cause me to do a double take, I appreciated the exotic specialty and didn’t feel rushed at any point during my visit. Since these are my first guinea pigs more than 30 years and they’ve come with surprises (the bad kind), I appreciated the extra time and advice to make them happy and healthy.

Truly a pleasure to go to Animal House of Chicago! I’ve had very poor experiences with other exotic vets and that has not been the case here. The staff are very knowledgeable and compassionate, the former being hard to find when it comes to ferret care!!! I’ve boarded one of my ferrets here and gotten him a deslorelin implant replacement. Both times the care has been impeccable and staff gush over seeing him!! I will be taking my second ferret here the next time she needs a checkup as well! Not to mention the prices here have been cheaper than the other exotic vet I was taking them to with way less wait times at appointments!
