Alain and everyone who works at Miami Pet Clinic are literally THE BEST! I have 2 little dogs and am traveling internationally with them. The process to import/export pets is very tedious and stressful but they made it super easy for me! I can not say enough good things about this clinic. Everyone is super friendly, efficient and compassionate. Alain calmed my nerves and explained everything step by step along the way. The office is clean and in a convenient location. They really care about both animals and the owners and they made me feel so much better knowing my pets are safe and have the correct paperwork to travel. After a routine spay at Miami Pet Clinic, my dog Koda died from internal bleeding. She was 16 months old, healthy and strong. The emergency surgeon who tried to save her found that both of her ovarian pedicles were actively hemorrhaging and that both original ligatures from her spay had slipped off. This is a catastrophic surgical failure, not a routine complication. She had lost nearly a liter of blood into her abdomen by the time they opened her up. Having both pedicles bleeding uncontrollably is clear, undeniable evidence of gross surgical error. I never spoke to Dr. Piedra before or after the surgery. The staff made it sound routine, standard. When I signed their generic forms, they brushed it off like it was nothing. No risks mentioned. No flags raised. While Koda was fighting for her life in ICU, Dr. Piedra didn’t call me. Alain, one of her staff, did. That’s when I was told she was “obese” and that “there were risks”—convenient words that were never mentioned before surgery. Her weight was within a healthy range. Dr. Piedra didn’t speak to me directly until I refused to take another call unless it was from her. The records they provided are paper thin. No body condition score. No surgical complications documented. No surgeon named. No anesthesia monitoring. No detailed post-op vitals. No informed consent beyond a blanket form. Koda was perfect. She had a gentle soul. The kind of dog who filled your space without needing to ask for it. She didn’t deserve to die from negligence. Dr. Piedra may seem caring and warm—but that doesn’t mean she has the skill or judgment to protect the life you’re trusting her with. She didn’t protect mine. I’m open to speaking with anyone who would like to understand more about my experience. Update addressing the clinics response: Your response confirms the issue. When both ovarian pedicles are actively bleeding and both ligatures have completely failed, that's not a "rare complication" - that's demonstrable surgical error. The emergency surgeon successfully re-ligated both pedicles under crisis conditions, proving proper technique was possible. Koda was discharged at 3:30 PM and required emergency surgery for massive blood loss by 3:30 AM. The emergency veterinary report documents the facts clearly. I'm filing a formal complaint with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation so this can be properly investigated and other pet owners can make informed decisions.

They are very friendly and professional. I went to the clinic to do a travel abroad health certificate endorsed by USDA for my dog and they knew the process and did it without any problem or delay. I learned about the clinic asking ai for a place in Miami that knew how to do travel certificates and they came on top of the list.
