We adopted our cat a couple of months ago. Her name was Samantha, but we renamed her Reina From the very beginning, we were so happy with our experience. The staff was incredibly kind, friendly, and patient. They truly cared about helping us find the perfect baby for our family. They took their time with us, answered all of our questions, and even gave us helpful recommendations to make the transition easier. Reina has been absolutely perfect. She completed our family, and we couldn’t be happier. She is healthy, happy, and clearly loves her new home. We are so grateful for such a wonderful adoption experience.

Humane Colorado (formerly Denver Dumb Friends League) is the premier sheltering and adoption agency in the metro area. I speak from nearly 50 years of experience, having adopted my first fur baby in 1978 and my most recent just a few days ago. The folks at Humane Colorado make all the difference. They will do everything in their power to help you adopt your newest family member. Their process is accommodating, consultative and never judgmental. Adoption is a highly personal decision and Humane Colorado affords you the space and time so your decision is made with confidence. We are head over heels with our newest fur baby Pita. She is a delight and we are so grateful to Humane Colorado for making this happen. One piece of advice: Keep tabs via the website and don’t dawdle!

My family came here in the hopes of adopting a dog as we were finally ready after grieving our last dog who passed a year and half ago. When we arrived we were greeted warmly by the workers and told how the process works! The dog we wanted to see unfortunately was not available to young kids, but they recommended we check out another dog. And oh boy, I am so eternally grateful that it worked out that way. Our sweet Sir Maxwell, our scrungly old man… words can’t describe how loyal he is, how good of a dog he is, and how loving he is. We couldn’t think of ourselves with any other doggie but him. He was so nervous with us at the shelter and now he is attached at the hip and thriving! I’ve learned to love a dog again and can’t thank this place for making it quick, easy, and so informative.

Being a Colorado native, I feel I grew up with this organization (Formerly The Dumb Friends League). I can remember adopting several fur-covered family members over the years, and I always held the staff in such high regard. My affection for Humane and all aspects of, lead me to become a volunteer years later. I've been a dog walker, a pantry and laundry helper, a kennel cleaner and a cat buddy, and those were some of the best memories I have before losing my short term memory. Humane of Denver offers compassion and dignity to all the little souls that come through their doors, and I hope many more years of happy adoptions originate from these wonderful locations. These are some of my rescue angels, Tia & Tamera and my precious boy Koda. Every moment with them has gently warmed my heart back to life and often pulled me from the darkness of depression and crippling anxiety. Thanks to all who make Humane of Denver a safe place for animals to recover, rehabilitate and find happiness with loving forever homes. God bless!

I adopted both my dog and cat from here! Adopted my dog back in 2021 and unfortunately he passed away earlier this year at age of 9! He was my best friend and the best thing ever happened to me! Thanks Dumb Friends League for giving me the chance to be with him! RIP Milou, you’ll always be missed!
