I am extremely discerning when it comes to doctors and veterinarians. Dr. Munoz is hands down the best veterinarian I have ever encountered. He is kind, knowledgeable, compassionate and reasonable. In a commercialized world where so many are out for profit, Dr. Munoz is a jewel, a rare find. I honestly want to keep his business a secret so I was hesitant to post this review but I guess that would be selfish of me. Thanks to Dr. Munoz, my pets are healthy and thriving and University Pet Hospital is there for me whenever life happens. The entire staff there is extremely professional and polite and even when you are dealing with a pet health emergency, they manage to make you feel better. Thank you for your service to San Diego, University Pet Hospital!

THIS PLACE GAVE MY DOG FLEAS!!!!!!!! Last Saturday, I brought my dog in for an anal gland expression and vaccines. From the start, I noticed the facility was dirty, with dog hair all over the exam room floor. I was concerned but hoped for the best. When the vet came in, he was polite, but the full-body exam lasted only about 15-20 seconds. He barely examined my dog and just mentioned a dental cleaning. I found that very odd since previous vets always did a thorough check. After the appointment, I went home and within an hour, I discovered fleas on my dog. We’ve been in San Diego for six months and NEVER had fleas before. My dog has very short hair, was groomed a month ago, and I had combed him thoroughly before the visit. I would have seen fleas if they were there. During the vet exam, the vet should have clearly seen if there were any fleas present. The only plausible explanation is that when he was taken to the back of the clinic for his vaccine and anal gland expression, he came into contact with another dog or an unclean area. After we left, we went straight home, and about 30 minutes later, I noticed fleas all over him. Nothing else makes sense, and it strongly suggests that the fleas came from the clinic. When I went to another vet to fix the anal gland expression, I explained the flea situation, and they confirmed that it was likely from the original clinic. They also noted that the anal glands were not fully expressed by the first clinic, meaning I had to pay again to have it done properly. In the end, this experience was not only frustrating but also a waste of money. The staff took no accountability and basically said, “fleas happen,” without considering that my dog was flea-free before the visit. I had to pay over $90 for a new dog bed, flea shampoo, flea comb, and flea/tick prevention. It’s clear that the clinic’s lack of cleanliness and care led to this issue. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Please be cautious and choose a place that truly values your pet’s well-being!!!

These folks are the best in the business! We had been taking our lil dog to these folks for over 10 years until his passing and we cant begin to thank them for the loving care and treatment they gave to beloved dog Scrappy. The level of care they provided our lil guy was nothing short of exceptional! Always spot on with testing, communication, dietary needs, and diagnosis for his many conditions over the years he was in your care. *Dr. Munoz you are such an amazing Doctor and a huge asset to the Veterinary Community! We could never thank you enough for the work you do and for the care and treatment you provided our lil dog over many years he was in your care. *Our Dear friend Rebecca, You are so amazing! We could never begin to tell you how much you mean to us! The care and love that you gave to Scrappy was so loving and kind.
