Dr. Sinopoli, Nurse Yaya, and the sweet lady at the front desk (I didn’t catch her name) were all absolutely wonderful! They were so kind to my Rambo and helped calm my anxiety right away. Yaya also took the time to explain the importance of having pet insurance — I really appreciated that. Dr. Sinopoli and Yaya were both so gentle and loving with Rambo. It meant so much to see how genuinely they cared for him. I’m so thankful for their kindness and professionalism. This is definitely where I’ll be bringing my boys for their care from now on!

Always so kind and helpful from the office staff to the vets. They treat my dog with the outmost care and are always willing to listen and provide their help. Giving options for care and recommendation on what they think I should do. I really appreciate the honesty in price upfront and that they do not push meds or treatments that are not fully needed but more precautionary. Every vet I have seen has been so kind and helpful.

READ TO THE END. Good part first. I’ve come here with my dogs for years. We moved 20+ miles away and still come here and give them our business. I drive by 10-15 other options on the way. I’m a loyal customer. That doesn’t mean I should get some sort of an award for that. This morning, I’m bringing my dog in for a scheduled 9:30 appointment. At 9:16, I realize there is a freeway closure and my arrival time will be 10 minutes late. My fault for not planning ahead and noticing the closure prior to leaving my home (I’ve never done that - but that is certainly not their fault) I called Otay Pet Vets immediately to tell them I was delayed, on my way & my arrival showed around 9:40. They said that was all good and noted my delay. I parked at 9:39, got my dog in her harness and walked in. My phone showed 9:40 as I was opening the door. I walked up to check in. The gal at the desk said “since you are late, let me check if the doctor can still see you today.” She said her clock showed 9:41 when she looked at it and they have a strict 10 minute policy (which I totally respect - that’s why I called and informed them of my delay). She went back to the doctor, came out at 9:43 and said I missed my appointment and would have to be rescheduled. I asked if she is the one who fielded my call, she said no. I told and showed her that I had called on my call log. She went back to the vet again with that information. They doubled down and said I missed my appointment and they could see me at 10:30 (nice, but 45 mins later?). She said if she had looked at her clock and it reflected 9:40 it would have been fine. Are we serious? Actually? Sitting in the lobby for the next 30 mins (literally)- not a single patient came in. Just sat there with my dog awkwardly waiting because of my sins. Great job Otay Pet Vets.

I’m extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Otay Pet Vets. My puppy has already been prescribed Simparica Trio through this clinic and has been taking it consistently, but when I stopped by for a refill, I was told they would not provide one unless I paid for another check-up first. What makes this especially frustrating is that their next available appointment is not for another 3 weeks. So essentially, my puppy would have to go 3 weeks without her heartworm/flea/tick prevention medication unless I pay elsewhere or switch clinics entirely. That does not feel like prioritizing a pet’s health or continuity of care. I understand clinics have policies, but refusing even a short refill to bridge the gap until the scheduled appointment feels more focused on generating another office visit than on the wellbeing of the animal. I was fully willing to keep the appointment and bring my puppy in, but I simply asked for enough medication to avoid interrupting her prevention treatment. Unless someone from the clinic reaches out and makes this right, we will most likely be taking our business elsewhere.
